Kari Sam Wuhrer, born April 28, 1968 is an American Actress and Singer. She began her professional career as a teenager. She is famous for her character of Maggie Beckett in the television series Sliders as well as her role as Sheriff Samantha Parker in the horror comedy film Eight Legged Freaks.Wuhrer was born in Brookfield, Connecticut, the daughter of Karin (nee Noble), a payroll accountant, and German American Andrew Wuhrer, who was a police officer as well as a car salesman. She has three siblings. As a child she sang in nightclubs, and then went on to sing. When she began studying acting at Wooster School from 13 years old she pursued a degree in drama at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts at Marymount Manhattan College and Columbia University.
